For anyone leaving a website builder

Your site, bound and ready to leave.

Wix won't export your posts. Decamp will, every one of them, with the images, the SEO and a map that tells Google where everything went.

The inventory and a three-post preview are free. You pay once, by size ($29 to $99), only when you download. Works with Wix, Squarespace and GoDaddy Website Builder.

What's in the package

Contents

One ZIP, six ways in. Whatever platform you're moving to, there is a file it already knows how to import, and a guide for doing it.

  1. i

    WordPress

    wordpress-import.xml

The native import file: posts, pages, authors, categories, featured images and Yoast or Rank Math SEO fields. Squarespace and HubSpot read it too.

  2. ii

    Ghost

    ghost/ghost-import.json

An import package with the images laid out the way Ghost expects. Categories become tags; SEO titles and descriptions carry over.

  3. iii

    Webflow & Framer

    posts.csv

CMS-ready CSV with a clean rich-text body, cover image, summary and SEO columns. Both platforms pull the images in on import.

  4. iv

    Markdown

    markdown/posts/*.md

One file per post with front matter, for Astro, Hugo, Eleventy, Jekyll or Obsidian. Images are local files, not links.

  5. v

    An offline archive

    html/index.html

A readable copy of the whole site that opens in any browser, with no account and no internet. Keep it even if you stay.

  6. vi

    Redirects

    redirects/

Every old URL mapped to its new address, in the format your host wants: Netlify, Vercel, Cloudflare, Apache, Nginx, Webflow, Squarespace.

Before and after

The same post, unwrapped

Builders store a post as layout code. Decamp reads the actual content and hands it back as plain, clean text and images that any platform can use. Download a sample package (70 KB) and open it yourself.

What to sow in October and November

October is quiet on the balcony. The tomatoes are gone, pots stand half empty, and this is exactly the moment to sow once more.

Broad beans keep going well into November.
  • Outside, until mid-November: broad beans
  • On the windowsill, any time: microgreens

What comes with you

Decamp moves your content, not your theme. No tool can carry a builder's design to another platform, so we don't pretend to. The inventory lists exactly what we found on your site before you spend anything.

Bound in the package

  • Every post, word for wordHeadings, lists, links, quotes, tables, galleries, YouTube and uploaded videos.
  • Your pagesText, images and buttons in reading order, ready for your new theme.
  • Every image, as a real fileNot links back to the old site, so nothing breaks when you cancel.
  • SEO you already earnedTitles, descriptions, alt text, slugs and dates, plus a 301 map for every URL.

Left on the shelf

  • The builder's designFonts, colours and layouts. Your new platform has its own themes.
  • Stores, bookings and eventsCounted in the inventory but not exported. Builders offer their own product CSV.
  • Members, comments and formsPrivate data we can't, and shouldn't, read from outside.
  • Anything not publicDrafts, password-protected pages and the locked part of paywalled posts.
About ten minutes

How it works

No login to your builder, no plugin, no password. Decamp reads your published site the same way a search engine does.

  1. i

    Inventory

Paste your address. We count posts, pages and images and list anything that can't move.

  2. ii

    Show it's yours

Add one short code to your site and publish. It stops anyone exporting a site they don't own.

  3. iii

    Read the proofs

Your three newest posts, fully converted, free. Judge the quality before paying.

  4. iv

    Take it with you

Pay once, choose where you're going, download. Come back for 30 days if you need it again.

Notes

Questions people ask

Something else? decamp@rcuadrado.es. A person answers.

Doesn't Wix have an export option?

Not for posts or pages. Wix's own help centre says it's "currently not possible to export blog posts to other platforms". The RSS feed lists only your 20 newest posts, and since 2025 it carries links instead of the text.

Do I need to give you my password?

No. We read your published site. The only thing you do inside your builder is add a short code that proves the site is yours.

Will my Google rankings survive the move?

That is what the redirect map is for. Point your domain at the new site, add the 301 file for your host, and old links and search results land on the right page.

What happens to my images when I cancel?

Images hosted by a builder stop loading once the site is gone. That is why every image is downloaded into the package. Import before you cancel.

My blog has thousands of posts.

That's fine. Posts are read a hundred at a time and images go straight from the builder to your computer. Chrome and Edge save it as one file; Safari and Firefox get very large sites in parts.
